Whispering Pines Retreat is a private 3-bedroom cabin on 300 acres of East Texas pine forest near Jacksonville, Texas, approximately 2–2.5 hours from Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston and about 3 hours from Austin. The main cabin sleeps up to 8 guests, with an optional private RV suite for 2 additional guests (10 total). Guests have exclusive use of the property during their stay—no shared spaces, neighboring guests, or public access. Amenities include a private 7.6-acre stocked fishing pond with bass and bluegill, a 6-person hot tub open year-round, spring-fed pool and waterfall, miles of private trails, outdoor kitchen, premium coffee bar, optional Polaris Ranger EV, fishing gear, kayak, canoe, pedal boat, fast fiber Wi-Fi, EV charging, and backup generator. A portable crib and high chair are provided. No pets. No cleaning fee on direct bookings. Rated 5.0 on Airbnb and 10/10 on VRBO, with Top 1% recognition on Airbnb.

We love animals, but we're not set up for pets at the cabin. To maintain our cleaning standards and keep the space comfortable for all guests—including those with allergies—we keep the cabin pet-free. There’s also wildlife on the property, and we want to keep everything here safe and undisturbed.
Small gatherings work well here—family get-togethers, retreats, and milestone celebrations.

This was by far the best stay we’ve had using VRBO or any other vacation rental company. The best thing about the property is it very private and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The house is beautiful and spacious the pond is full of fish and the fire pit is just a perfect spot to hang out! David is an awesome host answering all my questions very fast and the occasional check in is nice too! I give this place a very high rating the only complaint I have is we ran out of time!
The cabin is very private and peaceful. The hot tub was a special touch. The amenities in the kitchen were a nice touch. The pond is beautiful, enjoyed some fishing, kayaking, and feeding the abundant Blue Gills around the dock. The stars at night are a sight to see! The 4x4 was enjoyed by the entire family and was a memorable moment for the grandchildren. Highly Recommend ☺︎

We enjoyed our time at whispering pines very much. It is a beautiful and peaceful property. The home is immaculate, and every detail thoughtfully planned. We enjoyed puzzles, games, fishing, wildlife, sunrises, sunsets, the hot tub, and quality family time. Can’t wait to go back!
This is a relaxing place and a fun get away for our family. The attentiveness to every detail (towels, fragrance free and organic things) made this crunchy family so happy. Not to mention the emphasis on relaxing and enjoying our family by playing games fishing and talking in the hot tub. The coffee on the porch was to die for. We enjoyed being slow and we enjoyed the beauty of this home that was well thought through and prayed over. Such a blessing of a place and we were blessed being there. David and Theresa were responsive and generous. We are grateful!
Whispering pines is a beautiful property and well worth the visit. It has enough space to comfortably fit a large party. Host was very hospitable and always in contact throughout the stay.
